A roof, a sun, and the ground

What Pavilion is, why it carries that name, and what the mark means.

A pavilion is a simple building with one purpose. It makes room for people.

You find them at the edge of sports grounds, in parks and gardens, at fairs and festivals. A place to gather, to step out of the weather, to rest a while before heading back out. Nobody asks what you did to deserve a seat. You're there, and that's enough.

That's where our name comes from, and it's the idea behind everything we make.

Pavilion is for people who love a simple, everyday life and like to wander out of it now and then. Not to find anything in particular. Just to see what's out there — a new path, a new game, a new friend — and to come home a little richer for it.

What we care about

Creativity

Because making something is its own reward.

Adventure

And the small courage it takes to step past what feels comfortable.

Staying grounded

So the going out never costs us the coming home.

Community

Because none of it means much on your own.

The line that holds all of this is making room for everyone to play, and by play we mean anything from a backyard game to a mountain path.

The mark

Our mark is three shapes. A roof, a sun beneath it, and a line of ground.

The roof

Protection and home. Shelter you never had to earn.

The sun

Community, and a new day. A circle has no beginning and no end, and everyone in it sits the same distance from the middle.

The ground

Simplicity. The plain earth that everything begins from.

These are the same shapes the ancient Egyptians used for sky, sun and land. The mark isn't a hieroglyph, but it speaks one of the oldest languages we have. In that language the horizon was called akhet — the place between earth and sky where the sun was believed to be reborn each morning. Our mark reaches for that same moment. A new day, and the chance to begin again.

It's built with care, too. The roof is a 3-4-5 triangle, the right angle builders have trusted for thousands of years, and its proportions follow the Fibonacci sequence. You'll never see any of it. You'll only feel that it sits right, whether it's stitched small on a sweater or painted large on a wall.

What we'll make

Pavilion will make a handful of things, and each one should do what the building does.

The game Free to play on your phone, with anyone in the world. It's the first, and it's live now.
A press For stories of sport and adventure, open to anyone going further than they need to.
A foundation In time, so that what the rest earns can bring sport, play and adventure to children who don't get the chance.

That last part doesn't exist yet, and we won't pretend otherwise. But it's the reason for all the rest, and we'll build it properly, when we can.

Whatever brings you here, the idea stays the same.

A roof over you. A sun ahead of you. The ground beneath your feet.
